PHOTOS: Erbil holds the fourth annual snow festival at Korek Mountain

The festival showcased a number of snow-related sports and games, such as skiing, paragliding, and paramotoring.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Erbil held the fourth annual snow festival at Korek Mountain this Saturday. The festival included many different snow-related games and activities, with participants coming from all across Iraq.

Supervised by the Soran administration’s tourism directorate, the festival started at 11:00, to the joy of the large number of tourists in attendance.

The festival showcased a number of snow-related sports and games, such as skiing, paragliding, and paramotoring.

This is the fourth time the snow festival has been held at the Kurdistan Region’s Korek Mountain with a large number of tourists attending.

The festival’s organizers say Korek Mountain’s tourist accommodations can host as many as 5000 tourists a day.

Every year a large number of people come from the south and middle of Iraq to celebrate the snowfall season at Korek Mountain with traditional dancing and the festival’s annual games and sports.
