PHOTOS: Lifting the curtain on the statue of Kurdish artist Jihad Dilpak

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – In a formal ceremony on Saturday, the curtain was lifted from the statue of the famous Kurdish artist Jihad Zorab Ahmed, known as “Jihad Dilpak”, in the Kurdistan Region’s Sulaimani province.

A large number of Kurdish artists, including singers, actors, and theater performers, as well as Dilpak’s family members and friends, attended the ceremony.

The statue of Dilpak was erected in front of Sulaimani’s Culture Hall, where various cultural activities are held.

Dilpak is one of the most famous figures in cinema and theater in the Kurdistan Region

Dilpak was born in 1948 in Kirkuk. He is a graduate of the Kirkuk Teacher’s Institute.

His first artwork was his theater performance in “The life of the mute girl” in 1971. And his first participation in the field of drama was in 1972 when he starred in “The Stolen Spring” drama.

He played a prominent role in “Maraza” and “Gardalool”, two of the most popular Kurdish dramas.

Dilpak was died on Sep. 25, 2013. Following his death, a school in Kirkuk and a street in Sulaimani were named in his honor.
