Kurdistan Region PM to visit Qatar Tuesday

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday will lead a government delegation to Qatar, at the invitation of the Gulf state's Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The premier will hold a series of meetings with top Qatari officials, according to a statement from his office. The team would hold discussions to enhance bilateral ties, especially in the fields of trade, investment, energy, and agriculture.

"I will visit Qatar tomorrow to hold talks with the leadership and explore partnerships in regional energy, investment and trade," Barzani wrote on his personal Twitter account. "And I look forward to engaging local communities to promote people-to-people ties."

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Feb. 8 stressed the importance of developing political relations, expanding trade ties, and investment cooperation with Qatar in a phone call from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Late last month, Masrour Barzani went to the United Arab Emirates, where he met Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and several senior Emirati officials.
