Munich: PM Barzani and Defense Minister Akar discuss relations between Kurdistan and Turkey

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, met with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Friday at the Munich Security Conference.

Prime Minister Barzani arrived in Germany on Thursday to take part in the 58th session of the Munich Security Conference.

During the meeting, Barzani and Akar discussed the overall situation in Iraq and relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey.

Both sides stressed the importance of mutual coordination for establishing stability and security in the region.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani is representing the Kurdistan Region at the conference. He met with several world leaders, including the United Nation’s António Guterres, and is set to meet with the President of the European Union Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Barzani, agreed with the Italian Defense Minister, Lorenzo Guerini, that the fight against ISIS is “far from over.”
