ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Friday afternoon, Turkish-backed forces targeted areas near Ain Issa in the Raqqa province with rockets, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.

“The rockets also hit Hoshan village and its surroundings. No casualties have been reported yet,” SOHR said.

The Syria-based North Press Agency also reported that Turkish-backed opposition factions attacked Ain Issa with shells and heavy weapons.

After Turkey conducted a cross-border attack into northeastern Syria in October 2019, Russia and the US reached separate ceasefire deals with Ankara, allowing Turkish troops to control the area between Tal Abyad and Serekaniye.

Despite these agreements, Turkish-backed groups and the Turkish army continue targeting SDF-held areas.

Since late January, the number of Turkish drone strikes in northeast Syria has increased.

Recently there were Turkish drone attacks in Manbij and Qamishlo.
