ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraq decided on Monday that the PCR test for COVID-19 will no longer be required for travelers entering or leaving the country from April 1 onwards. Instead, travelers will only need to present a vaccination certificate.

The decision was made during a meeting held by the Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety.

In a statement, the committee agreed that travelers will need “to present only a vaccination certificate, for those coming to or departing from Iraq, Iraqi citizens or foreigners.”

The committee added that it also decided “not to demand the result of a PCR examination upon leaving or entering Iraq starting from April 1, 2022.”

However, those who cannot get vaccinated for health reasons will require a medical report certified by the Ministry of Health and a negative PCR test result.

In the past 24 hours, Iraq recorded 737 COVID-19 infections and 18 COVID-related deaths.

Since the pandemic began in early 2020, Iraq has had 2,308,928 recorded infections and 25,068 deaths.
