ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair says the deliberations from the Middle East Peace and Security Forum (MEPS23) go way beyond the forum to the wider world.

Blair’s remarks were shared via a video message at the conference, as the British politician could not attend in person.

“The Forum therefore comes at this amazing and important time,” and its deliberations will be of “immense interest way beyond the forum to the wider world,” Blair said.

The former Labour premier addressed the audience on the state of global politics, saying the new international system is a “multipolar” system, in which several actors are vying for influence, including China and the United States in the Middle East.

He highlighted the importance of the forum in addressing the current challenges facing the region.

Hundreds of politicians, political pundits, and researchers are attending the second day of MEPS23 in Duhok. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and President Nechirvan Barzani are similarly attending.

Beginning on Monday, the forum will continue for two days and address the pressing issues both in the Middle East and Iraq.
