73 attacks carried out on US forces in Iraq, Syria: Pentagon official

US and Coalition forces were attacked five times in Iraq and Syria on Thursday with rockets and armed drones.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A Pentagon official told Kurdistan 24 on Thursday on the basis of anonymity that US and Coalition forces have been attacked at least 73 times between Oct. 17, including 36 in Iraq, and 37 in Syria.

US and Coalition forces were attacked five times in Iraq and Syria on Thursday with rockets and armed drones, but there were no casualties or damage to infrastructure, the official also said.

This included a multi rocket attack, launched against Coalition forces at Mission Support Site Euphrates, Syria on Nov. 23 afternoon. Moreover, on Nov. 23 (appx 2100 local), a one way attack drone was launched in the vicinity of Omar Oil Fields.

Also two drone attacks were launched on the Erbil Air base, and another drone attack was launched on the Ain al Asad airbase.

So far, the US has retaliated three times in Syria, on Oct. 26, Oct. 8, Oct. 13.

Moreover, it carried out strikes on Iranian-backed armed groups in Iraq on Nov 21, Nov 22. Baghdad condemned the US strikes in Iraq.

Both of the targets struck on Wednesday morning belonged to Kata’ib Hizbollah, killing at least 8 members of the group.
