The Turkish Ministry of Defense in late November also said three Turkish soldiers were killed on Nov. 26 in an unspecified location in the Kurdistan Region.

The PKK and Ankara have been engaged in a bloody military conflict since the mid-1980s, reportedly resulting in the deaths of more than 40,000 people, although this figure has been disputed.

Much of the conflict has been fought in the border areas of the Kurdistan Region, which has endangered civilian populations.
