More than hundreds of projects received licenses in 2023, announces KRG Board of Investment official

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – According to Bargasht Akrayi, a spokesperson for the Board of Investment of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), 154 projects have received licenses since the beginning of 2023, totaling $4.3 billion.

“A total of 50 projects have been licensed in Erbil, three in Halabja, 12 in Garmiyan independent administration, five in Raparin independent administration, 43 in Sulaimani, four in Soran independent administration, eight in Zakho independent administration, and 29 in Duhok,” Akrayi revealed to Kurdistan24.

He also said that all the licenses issued in 2023 were mostly in the residential, commercial, industry, health, education, agriculture, the arts, and sports sectors.

Regarding administrative procedures, he stated that projects are submitted to the Investment Board, a special committee is a part of the Investment Board, and we have a special licensing and assessment office.

"The majority of them have begun implementing their licenses," the spokesperson added.

Earlier, Mohammad Shukri, the head of the KRG Board of Investment, announced in a press conference that the Kurdistan Region experienced an “exemplary” year in investments, as it had granted the highest amount of investment licenses.
