ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Seyed Razi Mousavi, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Syria, was reportedly killed in an Israeli strike in Damascus on Monday, according to Iran's Tasnim news agency.

The report stated, that Seyed Razi Mousavi was killed "during the Zionist regime's attack on the Zainabiyah area in the suburbs of Damascus."

Additionally, the report noted that Seyed Razi Mousavi, also known as Seyed Razi, was among the most experienced advisors of the IRGC in Syria and was a close associate of former Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force head, General Qassem Soleimani.

Soleimani and his Iraqi counterpart, Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandis, were killed in a US drone strike in early 2020.

Israel seldom provides details on specific strikes in Syria, yet it has consistently emphasized its commitment to preventing Iran, a staunch adversary that supports President Bashar al-Assad's government, from further extending its influence in the region.
