ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Saturday early morning, a large fire broke out in a warehouse of construction materials in the northern industrial area of Erbil.

According to a Kurdistan24 reporter, the fire broke out in a warehouse of construction materials in the northern industrial zone of Erbil, near the 100-meter street, at 06:57 am on Saturday.

A Kurdistan24 reporter spoke to a representative of the company whose warehouse burnt in the fire and he told Kurdistan24 that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. "There were no casualties and everyone is safe. However, the material damage is estimated at more than $8 million," he said.

About 10 to 12 teams from the Erbil Civil Defense Directorate tried to control the fire. "We are very much grateful to the police force and civil defense teams in Erbil for coming to our aid," the representative said.

According to the reports, the warehouse had recently been equipped with a fire-extinguishing system in the warehouse for thousands of dollars. “The system had been tested every six months, but today as the fire broke out the system did not work,” he added.
