ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan's Peshmerga has been killed near its camp in Sulaimani province.

A source within the Iranian Kurdistan Komala Party informed Kurdistan24 that a Peshmerga member of the party, named Shuaib Zarei, was killed by gunfire near the Zirguez camp, located southeast of Sulaimani. His body was subsequently discovered.

He also stated that the killing occurred outside the Zirguez camp, and the identity of the perpetrators remains unknown. However, an investigation into the case has been initiated.

"Comrade Shuaib Zarei, a courageous Peshmerga and dedicated member of Komala was assassinated by mercenaries of the Islamic Republic," the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan announced in a statement.

The Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan was founded in 1969 by a group of Kurdish students and intellectuals from Tehran and other Kurdish cities.

A number of Iranian opposition parties and groups have been stationed in the Kurdistan Region for decades.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired dozens of ballistic missiles and armed drones against suspected positions of opposition parties in 2022.
