Over 1,500 torches prepared for spectacular Newroz celebration in Akre

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Preparations for the Newroz celebration in Akre have been completed, with more than 1,500 torches ready for the event. Eight youth volunteer groups will lead the festivities.

Young volunteers from Akre have been preparing torches for the upcoming Newroz celebration scheduled for March.

These torches symbolize the essence of the Newroz celebration in Akre, and the volunteers aim to enhance the beauty of the event by preparing as many torches as possible to adorn their city.

"With only a few days remaining before the celebration commences, our focus is on the torches. This year, we've prepared the highest number of torches yet, as they add a unique allure to Newroz in Akre," one of the organizers stated.

Rizgar Hassan, a participant in the preparation, expressed, "We've made thorough preparations for the Newroz celebration in Akre. The more torches we have, the more splendid our celebration will be."

Every year, eight youth volunteer groups in Akre undertake the task of preparing these torches. Supervisors of these groups have confirmed that over 1,500 torches have been readied for this year's Newroz celebrations.

Nechirvan Kamiran, the supervisor of the Newroz celebration in Akre, stated to Kurdistan24, "We have readied 1,500 torches for this year's festivities, aiming to elevate the beauty and distinctiveness of our celebration each year. Our preparations this year differ from those of previous years."

On the evening of November 20, hundreds of young volunteers will carry the torches to the mountain peaks of Akre.

The Newroz celebrations in the Akre district annually garner significant attention, owing to the ceremonies conducted there and the city's geographical location.
