President Barzani's representative leads relief efforts in flood-hit Duhok

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - In response to the devastating floods in Duhok, the commander of the Peshmerga Gulan's 1st special forces and President Masoud Barzani's representative, Mansour Barzani, spearheaded the comprehensive relief effort.

The initiative, supported by over 500 dedicated Peshmerga volunteers and more than 50 military vehicles, commenced with a robust clean-up operation across the affected neighborhoods.

During a press conference held today, Mansour Barzani outlined the second phase of the relief campaign, emphasizing the urgent need to clear debris and restore normalcy to the region. "Our teams are tirelessly working, going from house to house, ensuring that flood debris is swiftly removed," stated Barzani, highlighting the commitment to rebuilding shattered communities.

Assuring affected citizens, Mansour Barzani pledged swift compensation, with a firm commitment to ensure that all impacted individuals receive aid before the onset of Ramadan.

Echoing the sentiment of service, he reiterated Prime Minister Masrour Barzani's words, emphasizing their dedication to serving the Kurdish people, irrespective of social standing. “I would like to reiterate Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s stance. We are neither Aghas nor feudal lords, we are servants of this land and this nation,” he said.

Moreover, President Masoud Barzani's directive to extend aid beyond Duhok underscored the unwavering commitment to assist all Kurdistan residents in need. With the deployment of 500 Peshmergas from the 1st and Gulan Divisions, 50 Peshmergas from the environmental division, and 200 Peshmergas from the border guards, the relief efforts extended beyond Duhok into Zakho and surrounding areas, reflecting a holistic approach to disaster recovery.

In a separate statement, Mansour Barzani affirmed the administration's pledge to expedite compensation for all flood victims, ensuring a rapid recovery process. "We stand united in our promise to provide swift assistance to those affected," he affirmed, instilling hope in the hearts of distressed families.

Duhok Governor Ali Tatar commended the coordinated efforts led by President Masoud Barzani's representative, highlighting the allocation of 117 apartments to flood victims as a tangible step towards rebuilding shattered lives. He also underscored the unwavering support received from President Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, who remained in constant communication to expedite relief efforts and address the needs of affected individuals promptly.
