ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Marwan Ahmad, the supervisor of the MyAccount initiative, told Kurdistan24 on Friday, that so far 250,000 civil servants have been registered to MyAccount.

MyAccount initiative supervisor stated that 213 bank accounts have been opened in Erbil, with over 140,000 cards issued to employees.

Ahmad also revealed that so far 19,000 accounts have been opened in Sulaimani and 18,000 in Duhok.

Meanwhile, he mentioned that ATM stations have been installed at various locations in Erbil. Additionally, there are plans to install 76 ATM cabinets in Sulaimani and Duhok within the next two months.

"The five banks that participate in my account can print 10,000 cards daily and then send them to card distribution centers to be distributed to civil servants," he added.

The pilot project will be finalized in 2025 with the goal of integrating all civil servants into the digital payment system.

The government’s Department of Information Technology (DIT) designed, tested, piloted, and implemented a secure application for onboarding Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) civil servants into the program in line with the Central Bank of Iraq’s Know-Your-Customer (KYC) needs, according to a press release previously shared with Kurdistan24.

Four private banks have so far taken part in the project, including Ashur, BBAC, Cihan, and RT Bank.

Erbil currently has about 50 ATMs from five private banks, namely: RT Bank, Cihan Bank, Ashur International Bank, National Bank of Iraq, and BBAC Bank, all of which are synchronized with MyAccount, except for the National Bank of Iraq.

MyAccount Initiative is the KRG's financial inclusion program which aims to "provide public sector beneficiaries with a safe and convenient way to access their salaries."
