ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - In response to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, the Dutch government has announced the temporary closure of its embassy in Tehran and consulate general in Erbil.

The decision, conveyed through the Foreign Ministry's official website, aims to safeguard the safety of diplomatic personnel amidst heightened geopolitical risks.

Effective immediately, all visa interviews and travel services to the Netherlands have been suspended at both locations. While the Foreign Ministry intends to reschedule interviews, a definitive decision on the duration of the closure will be made by Sunday, with considerations extending to Monday (April 15, 2024).

This precautionary measure underscores the Dutch government's commitment to prioritizing the security and well-being of its embassy and consulate staff.
