We want to maintain a balanced relationship with US, says Iraqi government's spokesperson

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi government's spokesperson, Bassem al-Awadi on Sunday told Kurdistan24 that they want to “maintain a balanced and mutually beneficial relationship with the United States.”

“The visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to the US is of great importance, as it will involve discussions on a strategic framework agreement,” the spokesperson stated.

Al-Awadi also said that the dominant aspect of Iraq-US relations has been security, and our goal is to change this dynamic.

"The withdrawal of coalition forces is a significant matter," he noted and added “Iraq and the United States are eagerly anticipating the results of the military committee and remain fully committed to it.”

Meanwhile, he revealed that the Iraqi premier would meet with the US Treasury Department.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani took a trip to the US on Saturday. He was accompanied by a high-ranking delegation comprising government officials, parliament members, and private sector representatives.
