PM Barzani advocates for press freedom, professionalism at International Summit of Journalists
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani delivered a powerful message today at the occasion of International Summit of Journalists, highlighting the crucial role of a free and professional press in Kurdistan's development.
In his address, Prime Minister Barzani commended the journalists of the Kurdistan Region for their dedication and commitment to reporting freely and without censorship. He emphasized the government's unwavering support for press freedom, stressing the importance of journalists' ability to critique the government and highlight areas for improvement.
"It is a pleasure and pride that journalists in the Kurdistan Region, thanks to the Kurdistan Regional Government, are able to carry out their professional work without fear of censorship," stated Prime Minister Barzani. "We will always support Kurdistan's journalists in their mission to uphold truth and accountability."
Reflecting on the significance of Kurdish Journalism Day and the establishment of the Kurdistan Union of Journalists, Prime Minister Barzani extended his congratulations to all Kurdish journalists and media workers.
He underscored the vital role of journalists in promoting Kurdistan, serving its people, and defending Kurdish rights.
Prime Minister Barzani urged Kurdish journalists to prioritize the truth and to safeguard the interests of Kurdistan. "Kurdistan's journalists should always be at the forefront of defending our values and interests," he emphasized.
Closing his address, Prime Minister Barzani reiterated his full support, as well as that of the Kurdistan Regional Government, for genuine journalism and freedom of expression in the Kurdistan Region. He concluded by wishing all attendees a Happy Kurdish Journalism Day.
