ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - On Monday, Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani will preside over the inauguration ceremony of the Ranya-Bingird Bridge in the Raparin independent administration.

This pivotal infrastructure project began on October 13, 2020, when Prime Minister Barzani laid the foundation stone in Ranya city, unveiling plans for the $9-million bridge alongside four other developmental projects for the region.

Prime Minister Barzani, accompanied by Minister of Housing and Reconstruction Dana Abdulkareem Hamasalih and other key officials, emphasized the strategic importance of the 420-meter-long bridge, which spans Ranya Lake (Darband).

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has allocated 11,300 billion IQD (over $9 million) for this project, which aims to improve connectivity between Ranya city, Sulaimani province, and surrounding areas.

Back in 2020 and during his speech at the foundation ceremony, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the bridge’s role in supporting local agriculture. "This bridge is crucial for our farmers, enabling them to reach markets more efficiently," he stated.

Prime Minister Barzani also pointed out the bridge's potential to boost trade and tourism in the area, known for its fertile lands and scenic resorts that attract both local and international visitors.

Situated near the Iranian border, Ranya city is a significant center for cross-border trade. The project, undertaken by a local company, marks a milestone in showcasing the capabilities of Kurdistani firms.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his pride in the local company's execution of such a significant project, extending his gratitude to the dedicated staff.

The Ranya-Bingird Bridge stands as a symbol of progress and commitment by the Kurdistan Regional Government to foster economic growth and enhance the quality of life for its citizens, paving the way for a brighter future in the region.
