PM Masrour Barzani meets Iraqi National Security Advisor to enhance cooperation

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Region met with Iraqi National Security Advisor Qassem Al-Araji on Thursday, May 30, in Baghdad.

The meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government.

In an official statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government, both leaders discussed the overall security situation in Iraq, focusing on the ongoing threat of terrorism.

They emphasized the necessity of developing robust cooperation and coordination between the KRG and the federal government to address these challenges effectively.

The statement also noted that the Iraqi National Security Advisor acknowledged the Kurdistan Region as a constitutional region, emphasizing that its strength contributes to the strength of Iraq as a whole.

Al-Araji asserted that fostering the best possible relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government is crucial for mutual stability and prosperity.

"The Prime Minister thanked the Iraqi National Security Advisor for his warm and friendly welcome and stressed that there is good coordination between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in terms of security. We hope this good coordination will be reflected in all other areas,” the statement read.

Prime Minister Barzani arrived in Baghdad on Thursday morning for a series of high-level meetings with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, other federal government officials, and leaders of Iraqi political parties. These discussions aim to address key issues and strengthen the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad.
