Fuel tank explosion in Sulaimani claims one life, causes significant damage

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - A person was killed following a fuel tank explosion on the roof of a residential building in the Ashti neighborhood of Sulaimani.

Diyar Ibrahim, the Director of Civil Defense in Sulaimani, confirmed during a press conference that the explosion resulted in the death of a person whose identity is still unknown.

The incident occurred when the man, who worked as a blacksmith, was welding a fuel tank filled with gasoline, leading to a massive fire that spread to nearby buildings.

On Wednesday morning, a video clip circulated on social media showing a huge explosion above a building in Sulaimani before civil defense teams intervened and controlled the fires, preventing them from spreading further.

The incident highlights the dangers associated with handling and welding fuel tanks, emphasizing the need for stringent safety measures.
