Several killed, injured in forest fires in southeastern Turkey

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced on Friday via X (formerly Twitter) that five people have died due to the forest fires in the Mardin province.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A number of citizens have been killed and several others injured in forest fires that swept through several villages in southeastern Turkey (Northern Kurdistan - Bakur).

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced on Friday via X (formerly Twitter) that five people have died due to the forest fires in the Mardin province.

“Five people lost their lives, and 44 people were affected by the fire, 10 of them seriously, in the fire that occurred in Köksalan neighborhood and Yazçiçi village of Çınar district of Diyarbakır and Yücebağ and Yetkinler villages of Mardin's Mazıdağı district,” Koca stated.

“We lost three lives in Diyarbakır and two in Mardin. Due to the incident, 35 ambulances and seven National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) teams were assigned. I pray for God's mercy for those who lost their lives, and I offer my condolences to the injured,” he added.
