More than 200 dunams of trees, shrubs burnt down in Goizha mountain

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Fire Brigade service in Sulaimani warned that a fire broke out in Goyzha Mountain, since the early morning of Monday July 29th, around 03:00 a.m. local time. A large area destroyed by the fire, roughly, more than 200 dunams of trees and shrubs burnt down.

“Fire fighter teams were called to the incident scene since 03:00 a.m., but a strong wind prevented from bringing the fire under control earlier before spreading all over that area” reported by the fire brigade service.  

According to the sources, it took several hours to extinguish the fire, but after damaging a large area in the mountain, there hasn’t been any causalities reported, also the cause of the fire is unknown.

The early reports confirmed the fire burned an area of ​​more than 200 dunams.

Furthermore, in the early June and mid-September of 2019, fire broke out in Goezha Mountain twice, it had burnt a large area of the mountain skirt and its ​​forests.
