Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region Government extends tributes to Sinjar massacre
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – On the 10th anniversary of the genocide of the Yezidis, a message was announced by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Government Masrour Barzani.
The Prime Minister extended his support to Yazidis “Today, 10 years passed since the genocide of the Yazidi brothers and sisters in Sinjar and surrounding areas. From the brutal attacks by ISIS terrorists, thousands of people were massacred and tens of thousands went missing and became displaced and refugees,”
“However, 10 years passed since that crime, yet Yazidi brothers and sisters still suffer, it’s not ended and many of them are still missing due to illegal armed groups and militias forcing themselves in Sinjar, as result the circumstance isn’t normalized and displaced people are unable to return to their zone.”
In addition, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani underlined and highly valued the Peshmerga troops’ role in Sinjar rescue “On this occasion, we highly value the sacrifices that Kurdistan Peshmerga troops presented under the leadership of President Barzani to liberate Sinjar. We view it with great regards and respect,”
Premier also highlighted in his message, the Kurdistan Region government's affirmation regarding continuous attempts with the Federal Government to normalize the unpleasant circumstances in Sinjar and areas around. He further stated “The Kurdistan Regional Government also works to reconstruct the whole area. Therefore, to assist the Yezidi sisters and brothers in returning with dignity to their own places,”
Emphasizing the agreement in regards to Sinjar to take place as it is, the Prime Minister underscored "We focus on Sinjar’s implementation of the agreement as it is, so that the peace and stability get restored to the zone as well as protecting and management of the area to be handed over to the indigenous people of Sinjar."
Ending his message, the Premier extended tributes to the martyrs and victims of the massacre in Sinjar and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.
