Kurdistan Region’s President, EU Ambassador discuss Erbil-Baghdad relations, regional stability

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Saturday, President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region received Thomas Seiler, Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, to discuss pivotal issues concerning Erbil-Baghdad relations and regional stability.

The meeting focused on the positive developments in the ongoing bilateral talks between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Federal Iraqi Government, aimed at resolving longstanding issues.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining dialogue and finding solutions through mutual understanding.

Ambassador Seiler expressed the European Union's dedication to supporting both the KRG and the Federal Government in economic activation and job creation efforts. "We will make every effort to help the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government activate the economy and create job opportunities," Seiler stated.

In addition to economic discussions, the meeting addressed the 10th anniversary of the Sinjar genocide. The leaders reviewed the current and future situation of the Yezidis and other communities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
