Residents of Baghdad protest daily struggles amid corruption and neglect
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Despite being one of the wealthiest capitals in the region, Baghdad residents continue to face numerous daily challenges due to widespread corruption and a lack of essential services. They have criticized government officials for neglecting and lacking a strategic vision to address these issues.
The city's infrastructure, particularly its streets and roads, is in dire need of attention. The lack of necessary services has resulted in severe traffic congestion, causing significant delays for Baghdad residents trying to get to work. Daily traffic jams have become a major source of frustration for many.
On Monday evening, heavy traffic congestion brought parts of the city, including Karada, Arsat Hindiyeh, and other nearby neighborhoods, to a standstill. Thousands of vehicles were stuck, and their drivers expressed their frustration, noting that this situation recurs frequently without any intervention from the authorities.
Residents and civil servants are raising their voices in protest, demanding that the Iraqi government take immediate action to alleviate traffic problems and improve public services. They argue that the government’s failure to address these ongoing issues demonstrates a lack of concern for the well-being of Baghdad's residents.
As the traffic woes persist, the call for accountability and effective governance grows louder among the residents of Baghdad.
