Prime Minister offered consent to reward winner athletes
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Regional Government’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani gave consent to the financial awards for the winners of the Kurdistan Regional athletes and sports team players.
In an announcement by the Sport Directorates organization “from now on, sport games; singles, doubles or team-payers medal winners in local, regional, at the national level of Iraqi, at the level of continent (Asia) and international competitions or tournaments to win titles, and to win the first, second and third places, will receive the financial rewards by the Prime Minister.
The awards include singles, doubles, or in groups of any types of the games.
The official letter from the Sports Directorate confirmed:
“A great news for Kurdistan's singular and team champions!”
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region approved a request was made by the Directorate of Kurdistan Sport, with financial rewards to the winners of titles and ranks of first, second and third.
The decision of that granting is not one-off reward, it is rather permanent, includes singles, doubles and team winners in the championships and tournaments, locally or internationally. The decision is effective from Thursday.
After the formal request by the General Directorate of Sports at the Ministry of Culture and Youth to award the champion teams and players, Prime Minister’s official permission followed to present financial awards to the winners of athletes in different games.
The letter referenced No. 11582, dated August 29th, 2024, and signed by the Diwan (Office) Chairman at the Council of Ministers of Kurdistan Regional Government, Dr. Omed Sabah, was dispatched to the Ministry of Culture and Youth.
Therefore, from Thursday, the teams, clubs and champions locally, or at the level of national of Iraqi state, Asian continent and or internationally to win titles, come first, second and third places, will receive financial rewards.
With the efforts made by the General Directorate of Sports, for any Kurdish athletes, according to the guidelines and classifications, will be entitled to receive the award, and the decision is permanent.
The official request, also referred to the approval from the Ministry of Finances and Economy, as well as enquired them to take the necessary steps for this purpose from today.
“On Kurdish athletes’ behalf, a gratitude is extended by the directorate to the Premier Masrour Barzani, and Dr. Omed Sabah, the Diwan (Office) Chairman at the Council of Ministers of Kurdistan Regional Government.
