KRP Nechirvan Barzani meets new, former German Consuls
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - On Monday, Kurdistan Region's President (KRP) Nechirvan Barzani met with former German Consul General Klaus Streicher and the newly appointed German Consul General, Albrecht von Wittke, in Erbil.
The meeting focused on the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region, underlining the significance of conducting the elections in a peaceful and conducive environment.
During the discussion, Kurdistan Region's President Barzani expressed his appreciation for Streicher's contributions during his tenure and wished him success in his future endeavors.
He also welcomed Consul General von Wittke, assuring him of the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to provide all necessary support to ensure the success of his mission.
Former Consul General Streicher expressed his satisfaction with his work in the Kurdistan Region, acknowledging the support he received from local authorities.
Consul General von Wittke reaffirmed Germany's commitment to strengthening ties with the Kurdistan Region, highlighting his country’s desire to deepen and expand relations further.
The meeting also touched upon the broader situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, with Kurdistan Region's President Barzani stressing the crucial role that the upcoming elections will play in shaping the future of the Kurdistan Region.
He emphasized that the true winners of the election are the people of the Kurdistan Region and called for efforts to ensure that the voting process is conducted in a calm and stable atmosphere.
