PM Masrour Barzani, Azerbaijani Ambassador discuss strengthening bilateral ties

During the meeting, Ambassador Mammadov conveyed greetings from the Azerbaijani President and extended an invitation to Prime Minister Barzani to attend the World Climate Summit (COP29) in Baku this November.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iraq Nasir Mammadov on Monday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mammadov conveyed greetings from the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and extended an invitation to Prime Minister Barzani to attend the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (more commonly known as COP29) in Baku this November.

Discussions focused on expanding bilateral relations across various sectors, including the steps to open the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Erbil and the resumption of direct flights between Baku and Erbil.

Prime Minister Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region's commitment to deepening its relationship with Azerbaijan.
