Iranian President to visit Kurdistan Region on Thursday

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday for an official visit to Iraq, with plans to continue his trip to the Kurdistan Region on Thursday. The visit marks a significant step in the ongoing relationship between Iraq and Iran, particularly in light of the deep historical and cultural ties between Iran and the Kurdistan Region.

According to the Iranian Consul General in Sulaimani, Mohammad Mahmoudian, President Pezeshkian is scheduled to meet with senior regional officials in Erbil during his stop in the Kurdistan Region. The high-level meetings are set for Thursday morning.

Speaking at a press conference, Consul General Mahmoudian highlighted the importance of President Pezeshkian's visit, emphasizing the strong civilizational and cultural bonds between Iran and the Kurdistan Region. Despite any temporary challenges, Mahmoudian expressed confidence that these would not affect the positive trajectory of relations.

He quoted President Pezeshkian as saying, "The relationship between Iran and the Kurdistan Region is strong, and there is a shared goal to further improve it." The visit is expected to address key areas of cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties.
