WASHINGTON, United States (Kurdistan24) - In a recent interview with Kurdistan24, the executive director of Ahwaz Human Rights Organization and representative of Congress of Nationalities for a Federal Iran (CNFI) said the new maps of the Middle East should not sacrifice peoples’ interest.

Dr. Karim Abdian stated that the new “Sykes-Picot” agreement in the Middle East should be based on the actual interest of people in the region.

His statement comes at a time when Kurdish officials are discussing new boundaries to be redrawn in the region to change the destructive status quo.

The Sykes-Picot Agreement, which is also known as the Asia Minor Agreement, was signed on May 9, 2016.

The agreement was created as a secret convention during World War I between the superpowers, including Great Britain and France with the assent of imperial Russia, for the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire.
