EXCLUSIVE: Documentary on history of Kurdish Jews in Erbil, Kurdistan

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – In a recent documentary video, Kurdistan24 explores the history of Jews in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

In the film, a Kurdish Jew talks about the presence of Jews in Erbil, especially in the 20th century where they had schools and teachers.

One of the students at the Jewish school explains the treatment of Jewish people during that period.

Currently, Jews have an official representative in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs whose name is Sherzad Omar Mamzani.

The KRG officially announced the representative's appointment in Oct. 2015.
