KDP to KCK: incorrect policies cause instability

KDP blames KCK for implementing wrong policies

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (K24) – The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) published a statement on their official website in response to the earlier statement of the Group of Communities in Kurdistan (KCK), a political organization associated with the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK). In the statement, the KDP blames KCK policies as the main reason for bringing Turkish troops to the borders of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Recently, the KCK published a statement on their affiliated media criticizing Turkey regarding democratic movements stating, “the main purpose for the deployment of Turkish troops in Iraq is not military training.” This announcement claims that Turkish soldiers in Iraq support the Islamic State and strengthens their positions against the PKK in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

On Tuesday, the official KDP website published a statement by its politburo referring to KCK's recent claims and states, “it is commonplace that you [KCK] blame KDP for the shortcomings and failures in your policies.” The KDP statement adds that holding the KDP responsible for KCK's failures [in their policies] is unreasonable.

The KDP response added, “if Turkish troops are now stationed within the Kurdistan Region's borders it is because of your wrong policies.” The statement continues, “KDP is not liable for the problems caused to the Kurdish nation by your [KCK] failed strategies.”

The KDP statement also included a list of more than 500 villages in Iraqi Kurdistan that the KRG is unable to reconstruct because of the presence of KCK forces .
