PHOTOS: Life resumes in Erbil after 'terrorist' attack on governorate building

According to the Kurdistan Region’s security officials, the incident is the fifth “terror attack” in the Region’s capital since 2007, and the second one at the governorate building.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Locals in Erbil resume their normal lives following the “terror” attack in the Kurdistan Region capital by Islamic State (IS) extremists.

On Monday morning, three gunmen attacked the Erbil Governorate building before being killed after several hours of clashes with Kurdish Asayish (security) forces. Security later confirmed the incident as a terrorist attack by members of the IS extremist group.

According to the Kurdistan Region’s security officials, the incident is the fifth “terror attack” in the Region’s capital since 2007, and the second one at the governorate building.
