ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Turkish forces and militias Ankara backs launched Wednesday evening a ground assault on Tal Tamir district, located in the northwestern countryside of Syria's al-Hasakah province, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said.

Tal Tamir Military Council members are responding to the Turkish-led attack in Tal al-Laban village, which is southwest of the district and "where violent clashes are taking place between the council's fighters and [Ankara's] mercenaries."

Despite ceasefire agreements between Turkey and Russia and Turkey and the United States since October 2019, Turkish-backed groups and the Turkish army continue to regularly target SDF-held areas. Often civilians fall victim to these attacks.
