ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in Germany on Friday to participate in the 58th session of the Munich Security Conference 2022, according to a spokesperson.

Ahmed al-Sahaf, the foreign ministry’s spokesperson, announced on Friday that Hussein had arrived in Germany and is set to meet with numerous delegates and counterparts during his stay, the state media Iraq News Agency reported.

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and President Nechirvan Barzani are also participating in the conference that will continue until Sunday.

“Crucial that our voice is heard in these annual conferences — to tell our story, advocate for the agenda, and exchange views,” Aziz Ahmad, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Prime Minister Barzani, tweeted on Thursday.

“Energy also on the agenda,” he added.

The conference will deal with challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and international security. It will have fewer attendees compared to previous years due to the pandemic, according to its organizers.

In addition to heads of states and governments, the conference will also host representatives of international organizations such as the United Nations, the European Union, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
