On day two of Munich event, PM Barzani to meet senior global officials

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with senior global officials on the second day of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

The conference started yesterday with both the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani present. They have so far met with a number of senior officials on the sidelines of the event.

In his meetings on Saturday, the premier will discuss ways to strengthen the Kurdistan Region's ties with other states at various levels, as well as discuss issues related to security, stability, peace, and international efforts to combat terrorism in Iraq.

The top Kurdish officials met on Friday with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, in which they discussed the latest developments in Iraq.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani separately met Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini and discussed issues of common interest. He also spoke with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar about developments in Iraq and Erbil-Ankara ties.

A number of senior world leaders and officials are participating in the 3-day Munich Security Conference, with the main focus being on the Ukraine crisis.

Prominent figures attending the conference include US Vice President Kamla Harris and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
