PM Barzani discusses KRG-Gulf relations with Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – At the Munich Security Conference 2022, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Mr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, on Saturday. 

“Today, we met with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Mr. Nayef Al-Hajraf,” Barzani wrote in a Facebook post. “In the meeting, we discussed the general situation in Iraq and the relations of the Gulf states with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.” 

“Our recent visits to the Gulf states were mentioned,” the PM said. “We also stressed the importance of strengthening relations between the Gulf states and the Kurdistan Region in all fields.”

Al-Hajraf, a Kuwaiti national, has held the position of Secretary-General for the GCC since February 1, 2020. He was previously the finance minister of Kuwait from December 2017 to November 2019 and Kuwait’s Minister of Education and Higher Education from February 2012 to January 2014.
