Fire breaks out in oil refinery in Erbil’s Gwer subdistrict

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - A fire broke out in an asphalt storage facility of an oil refinery in Gwer subdistrict of Erbil province on Wednesday evening. Despite the efforts of several firefighting teams, the fire has not been brought under control.

Kurdistan24 reporter said that witnesses in the area reported hearing three explosions prior to the outbreak of the fire. Subsequently, the storage facility caught fire.

He also added that the fire broke out in several storages of the refinery and has not been controlled yet, although civil defense teams are working to extinguish it. He revealed that all the workers at the refinery were safe and managed to escape early. The fire caused damage to asphalt transportation.
