Nearly 600,000 tourists visited Kurdistan Region during Eid al-Adha

Abdulmajid also added that more than 250,000 domestic tourists visited the Kurdistan Region during the Eid al-Adha.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Ibrahim Abdulmajid, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region General Board of Tourism, on Sunday told Kurdistan24 that Kurdistan Region received 358,331 foreign tourists during Eid al-Adha.

Abdulmajid also added that more than 250,000 domestic tourists visited the Kurdistan Region during the Eid al-Adha.

The Kurdistan Region General Board of Tourism had expected 300,000 tourists to visit the Kurdistan Region before Eid al-Adha.

The number of tourists to the Kurdistan Region has doubled in the past five years. Last year, about eight million tourists visited the tourist attractions of the Kurdistan Region. The tourism board plans to attract 20 million tourists a year by 2030.

Despite hurdles such as the war on ISIS and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kurdistan Region’s tourism industry has expanded, with six million tourists visiting in 2022. In 2023, seven million tourists were recorded, equaling a 16% increase from the previous year.
