Iraqi Parliament’s Committee on Security, Defense Reacts to Turkish Military Operation
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A member of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s advisory team claimed that there is a collaboration between Turkey and Iraqi Government for making the attacks on the PKK in the Kurdistan Region’s border.
In the meantime, a member of the Committee on Security and Defense of the Iraqi Parliament revealed that their committee has not been advised on that matter. The committee emphasized its worries regarding the tension rose between the Turkey Government and PKK, and considered that as breaching the Iraqi sovereignty.

It is understood that the Committee on Security and Defense of the Iraqi Parliament is bewildered with the Iraqi Government’s silence towards the rising tension between Turkey and PKK within the Kurdistan’s region.

Moreover, the committee member addressed the Iraqi PM’s advisor, and underlined the cooperation between Baghdad and Ankara regarding Turkey’s carrying out the cross-border operations.
Muhammad Hassan Razi, a member from the Committee on Security and Defense of the Iraqi Parliament stated “The committee doesn’t know the reasons why the Iraqi government stayed silent about those military operations”.
He also underscored there is no reaction noticed by the Iraqi Government about the military operations beside staying quiet.
“According to the advisor’s statement, the quietness could be the Iraqi Government’s agreeing on the operation or it is the collaboration between Iraqi and Turkish governments” Razi added.
The committee’s view declared at a time that Iraqi PM’s advisor Ibrahim Sumaidaai stated “PKK is committing crimes, and thus the Iraqi Government classified it as a terrorist organization.”
