Al-Baghdadi’s Wife To Be hanged

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The ISIS leader al-Baghdadi’s wife is decided to be hung. This decision was announced by the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council on Wednesday. As the announcement revealed that al-Karkh Crime Court ordered for al-Baghdadi’s wife to be hung.

In the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council statement, it is confirmed that al-Baghdadi’s wife Asmaa Mohamed. is guilty for working with ISIS, kidnapping Yezidi women and girls from Shingal in Nineveh, captivating and torturing them in her home.

Iraqi Parliament member Vian Dakhil had stated to the press on February 21, 2024 “Asmaa Mohamed was involved in many Yezidi women’s kidnapping, trafficking and torturing cases”  

“As well as al-Baghdadi’s wife was held to accountability for selecting 6- or 7-years old Yezidi girls to al-Baghdadi, to be raped and later sold to other militants. There for there are legal claims lodged against Asma Mohammed and the rest of al-Baghdadi’s family members” She added

 The Turkish Government had arrested Asmaa Mohamed in November 2019, Turkey said at the time, she was a wife of the polygamous Baghdadi, who was identified as Asma Fawzi Muhammad Al-Qubaysi.

The execution decision followed the Article that is related to Counterterrorism, number 13 in 2005, and depending on the part 1 of the Article 7 of Yezidi Survivors number 8 in 2021.

It is believed that Asmaa Mohamed is the first wife of al-Baghdadi, and was known as the Believers’ Mother and the ISIS’ Queen. In one of the interviews by the Arab TV channels al-Arabia and al-Hadath, she talked about her life, admitting in the beginning she was affected by Ekhwan (Muslims Brotherhood), later she would join Nusrat group, but then after turning against them, she would join ISIS where she would be given some sort of leadership role.
