Prime Minister’s Achievement Thanked by U.S. Delegates

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense expressed the U.S. intention of more progressing in military and security support as well as cooperation with the Kurdistan Region Government.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East Policy from the United States Department of Defense Daniel Shapiro and his delegates were welcomed by the Kurdistan Region Government's Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the Kurdish Peshmerga officials on Thursday. 

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense confirmed the U.S’ support to Kurdistan Region and Peshmerga, also the important and strategic role of Kurdistan Region as a partner to the U.S., as well as expressed the U.S. intention of more progression regarding military and security support and cooperation with the Kurdistan Region Government.

The reform process within Peshmerga Ministry was one of the major topics discussed in the meeting. Shapiro thanked the continuous work and support provided by the Prime Minister towards achieving the reform and unifying Peshmerga force, and pointed out the U.S and Alliances’ support to Peshmerga to fight terrorists, especially ISIS.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani extended Kurdistan Region’s thanks and evaluating to the continual support received from America. The Premier also affirmed to strengthen the bilateral relations in different areas.
