Kirkuk Provincial Council’s First Meeting
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Iraqi Prime Minister’s Representative Ahmad al-Fatlawi attended an important meeting in Kirkuk on Thursday where he announced “The Iraqi Government focuses and agrees about forming a central local authority in Kirkuk.”
It was first meeting that was held on Thursday by the Kirkuk Provincial Council, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhawan Abdullah, al-Fatlawi, A PUK’s member of Leadership Council, a member of Kirkuk Governorate and other political parties in Kirkuk.
Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhawan Abdullah promulgated in the press conference “Thank God, today the meeting of Kirkuk Provincial Council took place. However, the province’s residents are waiting for the Governor to get elected as soon as possible, also all the parties should come to an agreement for the cause.”
He expressed his rejoice to see the Kirkuk Provincial Council has been elected and opposed who didn’t believe in that.
“That is the beginning of the happiness and good time for Kirkukian people” He added.
Al-Fatlawi confirmed that all parties who participated in the meeting, and focused on making an agreement, indicated to a successful procedure.
He also extended Iraqi Government’s support to have a local government in Kirkuk formed. During the meeting, with all the other political parties, attendees and the delegates under the leadership of the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhawan Abdullah, al-Fatlawi hoped for the parties to be abide with the legal timeframe decided so to allocate the posts and roles by the Kirkuk Provision’s local government.
