Decision about what type of food, drinks to be sold in school tuck shops

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – A decision was made by both Ministries of Health and Education in regard to the type of food and drinks in the tuck shops in Kurdistan Region’s schools.

The Ministry of Health together with the Ministry of Education held a meeting, on Thursday, August 8th, 2024, concerning the food and beverages that should exist in the tuck shops for the pupils.   

It’s decided what and which to be sold to the pupils in primary and he were identified; what food should and should not be sold in the nursery, reception, primary, and high schools.

The Ministry of Health announced that in order to review and amend the guidelines for school confectioneries.

That joint meeting was arranged where the representatives from different ministries attended. The Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and all the general directorates agreed on the food that should be sold in stores and tuck shops, as well as those types of food that shouldn’t be.

In the same meeting, it was also decided to establish a Joint Committee in the purpose of following up with the tuck shops, monitor them and assist them with their challenges and obstacles.
