Murray leads Britain side for Davis Cup Final against Belgium

LONDON—Andy Murray has been selected, amongst four others, to represent Britain in the Davis Cup Final versus Belgium next week.

Murray will play alongside the same group of players that defeated Australia in the semifinal round of the competition. The other players included are his brother Jamie, James Ward, Dominic Inglot, and Kyle Edmund.

Murray stated that he is thrilled to be involved in a final against Belgium who he thinks has “some very talented players who will make a tough contest.”

Britain hasn’t won the Davis Cup since 1936, but Murray will be hoping to spearhead his nation to glory when the best-of-five series begins from November 27-29 at the Flanders Expo indoor clay court in Ghent.

“To represent your country at the Davis Cup Final is a huge honor and will be a new experience for me and all the team,” Murray said.

Murray and his team have defeated the United States, France, and Australia, and will now be looking to get past Belgium. Captain Leon Smith thinks that his side is carrying “great momentum” after defeating the other “grand slam nations” on their way to the final. He will be hoping that his side are able to end a 79 year wait and lift the Davis Cup.
