Moreover, the film explores the formation of an all-female Ezidi battalion created to fight against Islamic State (IS) insurgents.

The documentary presents many examples of the Ezidi tragedy, including the story of an Ezidi girl who was captured by IS.

The girl explains her several failed suicide attempts because of the severe torture and humiliation she endured at the hands of IS insurgents.

The second part of the documentary portrays the story of the battalion that bears the same title as the film, Daughters of the Sun Battalion.

Edris Zozani, the founder of Daughters of the Sun Battalion, explains the essential role that the female fighters play in fighting extremists.

“These brave women are the wings of the brave Peshmerga,” Zozani stated.
