Trump: Iran must stop funding, training ‘terrorists’

US President Donald Trump said Iran must put an end to its financial and military support for “terrorists and militias.”

JERUSALEM, Israel (Kurdistan24) – Speaking at a gathering in Jerusalem after arriving in Israel, US President Donald Trump said Iran must put an end to its financial and military support for “terrorists and militias.”

Trump met with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin where he reiterated Iran would “never, ever” be allowed to own atomic weapons.

“Most importantly, the United States and Israel can declare with one voice that Iran must never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon,” the US President affirmed.

“[Iran] must cease its deadly funding, training, and equipping of terrorists and militias,” he continued. “It must cease immediately.”

Trump added that neighboring Arab countries agreed with Israel regarding the Iranian threat in the Middle East.

“There is a growing realization among your [Israel's] Arab neighbors that they have a common cause with you in the threat posed by Iran,” he stated.

The US officially brands Iran a “state sponsor of terrorism.”

Washington believes Tehran’s backing of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Houthi rebels in Yemen’s civil war, and the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon have “destabilized” the Middle East.

Trump mentioned his visit to Saudi Arabia and said he was “deeply encouraged” after meeting with Muslim world leaders.

“Many expressed their resolve to help end terrorism and the spread of radicalization,” he added.

“Many Muslim nations have already taken steps to begin following through on this commitment,” Trump explained.

The US leader is on his first overseas trip since the inauguration in January.

Now in Israel, he has already visited Saudi Arabia and will travel to the Vatican, Brussels, and Sicily.
