Erbil police arrest suspect forger in possession hundreds of faked official documents

The security forces also seized the suspect's car, which had a fake registration plate, an assault weapon, a firearm, and other equipment.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Police forces in Kurdistan Region's Erbil province arrested an alleged forger of official documents and seized 329 faked items in his possession.

The police directorate said in an official statement that the arrest came in Erbil after investigating fraud crimes.

"The accused was found in possession of military IDs and documents belonging to the Ministry of Justice, in addition to other falsified papers translated into English," it said.

The security forces also seized the suspect's car, which had a fake registration plate, an assault weapon, a firearm, and other equipment.

The police also claimed they had also found a forged identification card with the rank of major in the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service in the suspect's possession.

The statement noted that the security forces had found 329 faked items in the suspect's home.

Those included "forged seals and official documents of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Iraqi government, consulates, official access documents of the border crossings, forged passports and identity cards."

The police said the suspect had confessed to a number of charges and referred him to the relevant authorities "to receive his punishment according to the law," the statement added.
